	To greasytony: Sisler only had 7 truly great years, after he got sick in 1923 (and missed the whole season), his power dramatically tailed off, which just isn't gonna cut it for a 1B (where defensive value is minimal).

	@colorsmc2: Koufax doesn't really make any Sporcle quizzes that span players' entire careers. I take several of the MLB quizzes daily and off the top of my head the only ones I can think of that he's on are the MVP and the Cy Young quizzes. He just didn't have that spectacular of an overall career because he only pitched 12 seasons because of arthritis and only 6 of those were dominant seasons. When he was dominant, he was definitely dominant, but just not for long enough. Thanks though because I had always wondered the same thing and you finally convinced me to look it up.

	Again, in Sisler's defense: He hit over .300 in six of seven seasons after missing all of 1923, including a .345/105 RBI season. He also had 375 career steals (something WAR-heads don't value). And at the time, first base defense was considered very important - look no further than the notorious Chick Gandil, who the White Sox played at first almost strictly for his defense. And so what if a first baseman doesn't hit for power? Ever hear of Rod Carew or Mark Grace, two great first baseman without much power.

	I love WAR, it is an accurate rating, but this quiz was about career WAR which is cumulative. As a Jew Sandy Koufax is my favorite player ever, but he did no have a long career despite being one of the 20 greatest pitchers ever, thus excluding him from the top 200 in career WAR.

	Also, how did Baseball Reference measure WAR for players from the distant pass if WAR is also based off of how good the replacements are?

	Yikes, some people are writing off WAR and the sabermetrics movement just based off this quiz. Let me explain to them: career WAR should never be used to evaluate a player's value. WAR should only be used for individual seasons. This quiz is not an attempt to show the 200 best players ever, but showing who accumulated the highest WAR ranking. Guys like Luis Tiant and Robin Ventura are on this list over Sandy Koufax because of solid production for many years. Career WAR is an accumulative stat, kind of like Wins or Hits, and shouldn't be used to rank players. (@atom55 Great quiz, btw)

	Good source, and true to the facts presented. Having said that, WAR (and yes most of the sabermetrics movement) is killing me. I know there is value to crunching the numbers and tracking them. But just because Billy Bean and company put together a playoff team (that could never win a playoff series, and the short answer was "we can't account for the short term") it does not make it the end all be all.

	Sisler wasn't that great, especially considering his era (WAR points that out). It's about quality (and quantity) in this quiz. Wow, look at Blyleven's position....will he ever get in?

	@healy34 The sabermetrics movement really has nothing to do with Billy Beane. The sabermetrics movement is only seeking to fix a major problem with many mainstream baseball statistics (such as BA, RBI, W, etc) being flawed in some way. Even if Beane's Athletics had never made the postseason, sabermetrics would still be a much better way to objectively rate baseball players. Here is not the case though, because WAR was never meant to rank players over their entire career, just season-by-season.

	@twarner50, I disagree that if Michael Lewis hadn't written MoneyBall, the sabermetric movement would still be going as strong as it is. I think that book gave a lot of credence to that approach. Also, teams that have moved to having GM's use this approach to build teams have not been as successful across the board. The Blue Jays pushed for this approach but struggled to climb up the ladder in the AL East. You could argue that the deep pockets of the Yankees and Red Sox nullified any chance they had, which is valid. The Dodgers however, also brought in a GM to use a more sabermetric approach and there certainly isn't a huge aversion to stroking checks in Chaves Ravine. They haven't been able to piece much together in the last five years either.
