Despite this, Wikipedia as well as dictionary.com seem to be unsure which way to pronounce it. Wikipedia gives 3 different phonetic pronunciations, one of which is monosyllabic. Dictionary.com gives 5 different entries: 3 list it as monosyllabic, 1 lists it as 2 syllables but pronounces it as one, and the last lists both pronunciations as accepted. Personally, I pronounce it monosyllabically. |
