I typed "California" over and over again and this game would not accept it. It also wouldn't accept "Alaska" or "Hawaii".

I'm very surprised that Missouri didn't make it.

Interesting, but for a quiz like this you need to list a source.

@KansasJ: My guess is that Missouri doesn't have them very often - but when they come, watch out!

Thumbs up if you felt it. (And thought you were losing your mind, like I was).

@kbowe: did you mean “like I thought”, or really “like I was”? :-P

@Pit_trout: Should have said "Like I thought I was." But who knows, maybe both lol

@kbowe I thought I was losing my mind because, apparently unlike everyone else nearby, I didn't feel it. Well done on the timing, sporcle.

Might want to specify somewhere in the quiz's title or description that it's asking for US states. I spent the first minute or so trying countries before realizing this was a quiz about the United States.

I thought it was the hoagie I had for lunch. I was about to tell people not to get the roast beef from the sandwich place in the train station. Then I saw my cactus swaying in my cubicle, and I know he didn't have the roast beef today, so it had to be something else.

The real fun is in finding the full 25 with bonus answers without naming the correct 10. Kind of like a bonus minefield (hint to everyone, there's a tiny mostly-dormant fault line a liiiitle south of Knoxville.)

@yashcmarthe I live in Missouri but even though it has had the most powerful earthquake in the united states history doesn't mean it has alot of them. Truth be told I've only experienced one.

Virginia, the only state where a well-timed six day, seven night trip can get you tickets to Williamsburg, rides at Busch Gardens and an earthquake and a hurricane to boot. Best of luck, Atlantic Coast- here's hoping that you're all in one piece when this week is over.

I don't think number of earthquakes is a good indicator for Earthquake-prone-ness. At least it should be amount per unit of area.

My son's first earthquake...and he just blew it off. Meanwhile, I was wondering how secure the walls were in the apartment we just moved into 2 weeks ago. -Signed, northern Marylander.

I never would have guessed Idaho or Alaska. It's just not what you think of those states unless you live there I guess.

Given the very high success rate on this quiz, maybe dropping the time to a minute wouldn't be a bad idea.

Sullivan County, New York, didn't feel a thing. Then again, with the amount of kids I have, the floor always shakes.

I have the worst (best?) luck! I was on the subway during the earthquake today, in Toronto, and I couldn't feel it. Last year, around June, there was another earthquake here, and yet again I was on the subway and missed it. So sad :(
