| I'm not sure I understand the criteria - the Duchy of Savoy was definitely part of the Holy Roman Empire. Nominally, at least, so were Switzerland, the United Provinces, Tuscany, and Genoa. If you're going to include those, why not German states like Bavaria, Brandenburg, Saxony, and so forth? The inclusion of "Austrian monarchy" is also puzzling. Firstly, the Austrian Habsburg territories in 1600 were partitioned among several different rulers - Rudolf II had Hungary, Bohemia, and Austria, but other lands were under various relations. Secondly, except for Hungary, all of those territories were part of the Holy Roman Empire. And "Connaught"? |
