@amidabutsu: maybe @PotatoDigger's comment wasn't as sensitively phrased as it could have been, but it's a fair and constructive criticism. Many quizzes on social factors tend to end up effectively playing as either "name the rich/developed countries" or "name the disadvantaged/developing countries", rather than making one think about the specific subject.
Admittedly, now that it's down to 50, this doesn't have so much of that problem, to my taste; you have to think a bit, remember literacy rates as "the one thing that communism was really good at", and then think about which other countries besides Europe, the anglosphere, and the former communist ones have had strong educational/social policies in recent decades. But it's unreasonable just to dismiss his/her comment just because it's negative or could be read as politically incorrect. |
