	Really good quiz. However, "Antigua" and "Tobago" don't fit with the rest of the answers since they're not present-day countries, but they're parts of present-day countries. You should change them to "Antigua and Barbuda" and "Trinidad and Tobago" and specify in the Information section if you want to.

	For the United States you might want to add the states in the Ohio river valley which France controlled until the end of the French and Indian/ Seven Years' War in 1763.

	"Cote d'Ivoire" (without the brevet) should be acceptable for Ivory Coast.

	Hmm...there's various Revolutionary/Napoleonic era countries that don't count, and that were at least as controlled as the Dominican Republic - Egypt, Malta, Greece (the Ionian Islands), plus mainland European possessions like Benelux, Germany (Rhineland and Baltic Coast), Spain (Catalonia), Monaco, Italy (Piedmont, Genoa, Tuscany, Latium, Parma), Switzerland (Geneva and Valais), Austria, Croatia and Slovenia (Illyrian Provinces). Otherwise, excellent quiz.

	i didn't forget french india, it's there, under "india". i'll update the quiz so it accepts st for saint. @ hamburger: the normans were vikings who raided several places in europe and sailed the seine all the way to paris (but failed to raid it) and eventually settled in what is called normandy. hence the high proportion of people with blond hair in blue eyes in that part of france. and one could argue william the conqueror is so called not so much because he conquered the throne of england, but because it sounded better than his previous name of william the bastard (because he was an illegitimate heir to said throne). @ hamburger and jonlk: we could also add the land conquered during the medieval crusades as part of the french colonies, if we start on this path. i have tried to stick to the modern definition/understanding of what a colony is, as opposed to "conquest", which is more what napoleon or french kings did. not to say i'm right, but a limit had to be put somewhere :)

	St should now be accepted for Saint. and I've changed the question of the quiz to mention the "French colonial Empire", which corresponds more to the whole idea of going to other continents and take over land, as opposed to trying to expand French territory back in Europe. Hope it helps. Thanks for the input everyone.

	Nice quiz! You might consider adding Turkey - The Turkish city of Alexandretta (now Iskenderun) was part of French Syria, as I learned in my political geography course. Also, Brazil - The French attempted several colonies along its coast. Though none of them lasted, but they existed for several years.

	Shouldn't France be on the list. Even if you would exclude European France on the grounds that they weren't colonies, French Guiana, the French Antilles, etc. certainly were.
