One World Trade Center was demolished on a tragic day. Tallest building in NYC is the Empire State Building.

Why would one accept "San Fran" when one wouldn't accept "NYC"? Odd.

midnightdj - the new tower under construction on the WTC site that is planned as the tallest in New York is also named One World Trade Center (formerly the Freedom Tower)
New York should be listed as "New York, New York" - the word "city" is not part of the name & is only needed to differentiate the city from the state so it should not be included when written with the state

These are probably just the numbers of diagrams that SSP has drawn for each city. Otherwise Panama City would be on here, among others.

At the moment 1 WTC isn't the tallest, still the empire state building. Maybe in a couple of years.

Nice quiz! Please accept LA for Los Angeles

One World Trade Center is the new building under construction. The quiz includes buildings under construction so that it's future-proof. I can't accept "LA" for Los Angeles because Las Vegas starts with "la" too. I agree that SSP isn't great. There are often buildings missing from non-english-speaking cities.

ok...missed the "under construction" part...although it seems better to only include buildings that are actually built.

If you are going to include Panama City then why the hell is Mexico City not here?

Mexico is not on here because skyscrapercity only lists 11 skyscrapers, which puts it just off the list. Since skyscrapercity is unreliable for non-english cities, I checked against the list on Wikipedia but there are no buildings missing.

good quiz but vancouver should be on the list because have you seen the shrill amount of apartment towers there?

Yes I have seen the number of apartment towers there. Vancouver has an incredible number of highrises and a great skyline too. However, only 2 buildings are tall enough to be classified skyscrapers: Living Shangri-La (197m) and Hotel Georgia (157m).

Yeah, the actual number of skyscrapers is astounding for a city the size of Vancouver, but most come in at the 25-35 story range which falls short of the 150 metre definition used in this quiz. There are some interesting building height regulations there that allow for only a few tall skyscrapers to protect what they call 'view cones'...

The typical definition of skyscraper is 500ft or 150m. Below that is considered simply a highrise. Vancouver has a lot of highrises, but not very many skyscrapers.
