I'm not surprised not one single person got the exact number of islands for Japan. I'm a Japanese citizen, and even I don't know that!

Interesting as it is. The 'Leading cause of Death' question seems a tad out of place

I think the total number of the islands includes uninhabited pieces of rock too. Just one answer that I couldn't guess. Even Japanese don't know this, how am I supposed to know.

'Kana' for katakana?

'Kana' is both Katakana and Hiragana (the two together are called the Kana). As such, Kana is not a script, it is a collection of scripts. So the quiz is right.

And why does no one ever remember Shikoku (myself included)? Poor island, must feel neglected lol.

Could be a little easier on the eyes. Aside from that, excellent quiz!

New PM is Kan. You should also accept "Shinto".

20/29. Not bad considering I only started liking Japan because of anime xD Anyway it wouldn't have mattered if I'd known the PM cos it's wrong =/

Is it possible to change the PM to Noda? I tried both Noda and Kan, but I didn't go back far enough, I guess. And is the official name for the religion Shintoism, and not Shinto? Ah well, I still didn't do too badly :)

I second the request to accept "Shinto."

I realize people have already said this but I opened the comment section for one reason and one reason only and that is to say this: You should definitely accept just "Shinto" for "Shintoism." Otherwise, nice quiz.

At the rate the Japanese prime ministers have been changing, perhaps that should be left out. The current prime minister is Noda Yoshihiko. Hatoyama is 2 PMs ago.
