Quite a strange variety of answers here, you would be thinking the likes of Japan, France, India, Germany, UK, Bazil but to have countries such as Ghana, Peru, Uzbekistan and South Africa being so high up makes this a rather fascinating shocker

Deco - why that? We are talking of gold production (i.e. mining), not consumption. Japan, Germany, UK are not really known to have many precious metal resources. Although there is no source (please add), the answers perfectly make sense.
