Some of them make sense - countries that are reasonably successful internationally and therefore play a lot of games, but don't have a huge soccer-playing population. Hence Egypt, USA, Sweden, Denmark, South Korea, Saudi Arabia.

@dollymix: I think there is something to that but shouldn't then be way many more small European countries? San Marino, Liechtenstein etc. have a very small football-playing population, still they have to play alomst every official FIFA playday because of qualifications.

@nadivereb not necessarily, because the very small nations would not qualify for the major tournaments, so miss out on the extra games (and pre-tournament friendlies) that would entail.
