	While yes, those 3 mentioned groups did originate from NZ, they did migrate & were based in Australia for most of their hit-making period.

	And those same NZ groups did include Australian-born members at times too, so I think it is fair to call them Australian bands.

	Split Enz spent 2 years in Australia before 4 years in the UK so under your logic they should be british!

	I think it is fair to say that these groups originated in NZ, but really took off in terms of sales etc. once in Australia. If you check many local charts from that time, these groups' records are identified as Australian records and many were written or recorded here. But this is always a matter of opinion: for example, Olivia Newton-John is famous to many as an Aussie, but was born in the UK and based for many years in the US. Same goes for the Bee Gees, AC/DC etc.
