I responded to the atheist/agnostic/none comment by making Pew's key term for "none" the display term -- it's "nothing in particular," and I think it's a little more descriptive. I'm open to being convinced on this, but at this point I'm not combining the three options for two reasons. First is fidelity to the source material. Second, I understand atheist/agnostic as affirmative statements about one's religion, where "nothing in particular" is a more passive statement, and therefore qualitatively different. As I said, I'm open to being convinced on this point. |
