While it was used in a setting most Americans watched, it's not "ridiculously famous." No one's memorizing it in school. Frankly, it's not even that good.

Agree, "ridiculously famous" is a gross overstatement. I had never seen this before, and I've been around for a long time and read a lot of poetry.

C'mon dude, nobody reads Elizabeth Alexander ("Praise Song for the Day" is the poem, for anyone who doesn't wanna look it up). Pick a better poem next time.
