	Assuming we're talking about the same 495 people in both cases how would the tie between Sofia, Queen of Spain, and Constantine II, King of the Hellenes be broken? Paper, Rock, Scissors? Or would they have to rule jointly?

	The concept just seems weird...not that it would ever happen, but that a foreign leader could rule another country through that country's "law" (outside of Commonwealth countries).

	Interestingly, Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II, is just 552nd in line to become king. Are all of these royals currently ruling something somewhere? How to put it delicately... aren't some of them, shall we say, between positions at the moment? What exactly do Michael, King of Romania, Count Christopher Habsburg of Austria, and Constantine II, King of the Hellenes rule anyway, since none of their countries are monarchies, constitutional or otherwise? So it's not exactly like they would have to give up their day jobs to take on the UK gig, right? I'm assuming the others on this list however, would be required to give the standard two-weeks notice to their countries before moving into Buckingham Palace.

	@Geo_Crazy: is it really that unusual historically? My impression was that it's not too uncommon for the royal ruler of a country to be from an entirely different country not so long ago. An outcome encouraged by the practice of inter-marriage among royals from other countries (often for political purposes) and the rules of succession. If the line of succession died out, sometimes kings were even brought in from outside the country as a sort of compromise candidate so that one faction of domestic royalty wouldn't gain the upper-hand over any of the other factions of domestic royalty. In that sense there was a degree of globalization in the monarchy business. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's the impression I had.

	Tahiti re Queen Sofia v King Constantine - currently it would go to King Constantine as they are brother and sister (although Queen Sofia is the eldest). There is a discussion about changing the line of succession so if the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall have a baby girl first she will not be known as the heir presumptive when Prince William becomes William V. Although that would require about 15 countries to change their constitution. As Elizabeth II is also the Queen of countries like Australia, Canada and Fiji. There is also the issue of the religion of the heirs - if they are catholic, convert to catholism or marry a catholic then they are permenantly excluded from the line of succession. Regarding King/Queen of two countries the last case in UK's history was James I of England and James VI of Scotland the two countries remnain seperate however there has been cases where this has caused countries to join.

	Thanks, javonzir. I had no idea Queen Sofia and King Constantine were brother and sister. I've no doubt what you say is true about who would come first in that case, but then shouldn't Queen Sofia's magic number be one greater (460) than King Constantine's (459)? For someone living under republican rule this topic is fascinating, but mysterious.

	How are we supposed to get these in order from the number of deaths required? You should remove answer in order, as it is only one third of people are even bothering to keep guessing beyond the first two.

	You seem to be inconsistent about whether you are including deposed royal families - Romania and Austria are no longer reigning, but you've not included a bunch of other non-reigning families. Also, I'm confused as to how a Limburg-Stirum is part of the princely house of Liechtenstein. King Michael, Queen Sofia, and King Albert II are not actually in line, because they are Catholic; Count Christoph is Catholic, and so not in line, and also the product of a non-equal marriage, and so not part of the Austrian imperial house; Princess Sibilla of Luxembourg married a Catholic (I don't know if she is Catholic herself), so she is likewise not in line.

	@paulio_ham: the most likely answers are the countries in Europe that still have monarchies or have had monarchies in the past. The pool of countries meeting that criteria is not that large. If it were answer-all-at-once it would be too easy a quiz probably. As for why people aren't doing so well after the first two answers, you'd have to guess that everyone would know the first answer and beyond that people don't know much about the monarchies in Europe. People who do know their royalty (not me) might be able to predict which countries would appear earlier in the line of succession passed on their knowledge of how the various royal houses of Europe are related to one another.

	I think there has been a number of problems. The numbers used do not represent the actual number of deaths before it is transferred to another Country just the next highest person who has a legitimate right to the British Crown under current rules (born legitimately/progeny of an legitimate heir or not a Catholic/Married to a Catholic). Secondly, the Spanish Duke of Galliera has more right to the British throne than the Queen of Spain meaning Spain should move above Sweden. Also the 130th person to the British Throne is the Grand Duchess of Russia. Also there are a few titles that have a legitimate claim from Germany

	I changed the title of the "Number of Deaths Required" category to "Place in Line" to make it more general. I added the Grand Duchess of Russia, I just didn't think she'd be on the list because I thought they were all dead. And the country might have royals, they might just not be in power anymore.
