| @Chromatos: Sorry, but that's a flimsy argument. France has six different places that are considered integral parts of France: European France, French Guiana, Mayotte, Réunion, Martinique, and Guadeloupe. France borders Brazil and Suriname through French Guiana. It's like how the U.S. has two borders with Canada: One with the continental U.S., and one with Alaska. They are THE SAME EXACT COUNTRY. It is a border with the country's sovereign territory, not one of its dependencies. Just because there is something splitting the country into pieces doesn't make it a different country. Alaska's population (although small) is included in the overall population of the U.S., just as French Guiana's population is included in the overall population of France. |
