Ignore the stars, they're for spacing. Recommend scrolling through to pick out ones you know first. Tested spacing on Win7 and OSX at standard zoom, let me know if it's off for you.

Great quiz! I had to use Ctrl+ or Ctrl- in Google Chrome to get the table to align correctly -- after that, functionality was perfect.

It'd be nice if the elements filled in as you clicked. At least for correct answers.

Excellent execution, agree with DavidRF that it would be nice if the symbol appeared on correctly-placed answers. Might also be helpfule if some of the boxes had the element number in them to use as a reference point - with 118 blank boxes, it's really easy to be off by 1 or 2 positions. Good quiz though. 5 globes from this player.

I like both these last points enough to consider using them - not sure if I would or not - but they're both technically impossible right now. Can't change the button text, and buttons wide enough for the atomic numbers wouldn't fit all the way across. I do use counting atomic numbers for some of them, but I count from positions/numbers I know, particularly the noble gases.

got 95 from the 118, probably should've had 110 but i lost track of the board because the answer doesn't show up so i put stuff in the wrong place, but good quiz anyway

I love the idea but I just had to stop because something wasn't working properly. I'm on Win7 at standard zoom. The first 22 or so worked fine but I tried some other simple ones like Gallium and Bromine and they didn't work. They seemed to be one over but without seeing the answers I can't tell you for sure what was off. Is is possible to have a separate image of a periodic table that fills in as you click the answers? I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but if you linked the buttons to the image maybe you could provide both the answers and even atomic numbers? Just a thought.

Okay, I think I got it. On my screen there are 11 groups for the transition elements, so that puts each period after the 4th successively off by 1. Also, I just noticed that the last period is centered, so 118 isn't under the noble gases.

@hyrax73: 11 transition element groups is definitely a problem! Which browser are you using?

This quiz has disappeared from the listings and I could only find it by searching - has it done something wrong? Its my favourite!

Maybe it got reset when I edited it to include the two newly approved element names.

How were you able to get the buttons aligned like this? I've been trying something similar, and I can't seem to figure it out.

They're not in the same places as on all of the other quizzes. How on earth am I supposed to find Beryllium if it's in the place that looks like neon?

To repeat other comments: This is fantastic. Having finally achieved all 118 on the standard quiz, I will now be using this to nail down the positions. Thank you!
