| @professor88: you're right about Hungary, probably just an oversight. However, there is no way to include Gambia (or any other country with just a single border) unless it's where you start or finish. It's only really possible to visit 128 countries in the world under these rules, so since there are 195 countries in the world, there are going to be at least 67 that don't appear in this quiz (or any other quizzes in this same genre). I don't think it's very useful to list them as you don't really have to know what they are in order to successfully finish the quiz. However, if you're curious the list of non-visited countries includes two categories. First, all countries with fewer than two borders, that is: all island countries (with 2 notable exceptions) and all countries which only border a single country (again with 2 notable exceptions, namely the beginning and ending countries). The second category of non-visited countries includes countries with 2 or more borders, but which cannot be visited given the route chosen, that is, the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, and Finland), the Middle Eastern countries bordering Saudi Arabia (Yemen, Oman, and UAE), countries bordering China (Bhutan, Nepal, and North Korea), and the countries south of Thailand (Malaysia and Indonesia). Asia is the most difficult continent. Because Russia and China are so large they border many countries. Since under the rules countries cannot be revisited this causes coverage problems in Asia. Also there are a number of choke-points in Asia: Saudi Arabia and Malaysia, for example. All the countries having more than one border can be visited in North America, South America, and Africa. In fact, this quiz does so. |
