You're going to get a lot of complaints about Phillies. It's not even really defensible because the spelling. The reason a lot of people are getting it is because there's too much time; lots of people can just name all the teams in 5 minutes.

Rays are not the animals, they are the sun rays (changed when they went from Devil Rays to Rays). And yeah, Phillies aren't named after animals.

How about any mascot that is a human? Because humans are in the Animal Kingdom. So like indians, braves, padres, yankees, twins, brewers, pirates....etc

I don't consider Phillies an animal. I realize it sounds like fillies. But I don't think it is the same.

Phillies was shortened from Philadelphians. It's not an animal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philadelphia_Phillies

Regarding the Rays, one of the secondary logos still features a ray (the animal). Link: http://images.bucem.com/images/admin/DRAYLOGOS.jpg

The concept isn't wholly bad ... if the quiz doesn't exist, perhaps expanding it to the big 4 North American team sports?

The SF Giants mascot is a Seal and the A's mascot is an Elephant. Last time I checked they were both animals.

I think the game refers to the "nickname" as opposed to the mascot...almost every team has some sort of "animal" mascot that dances around at games, i.e. the SF seal, and the A's elephant...and you really need to get the Phillies off the list!
