| The Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are more or less part of the Indian Ocean. Kind of like the Gulf of Guinea in Africa, which is not separated by any major form of land. Both the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea pyramid out of the Indian Ocean and are thus part of the Indian Ocean unlike the Red Sea, Java Sea, and Persian Gulf, which are separated from the ocean by islands and passages rather than being sublets of the ocean like the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea. For example, I don't know anybody that wouldn't count Boston as being on the Atlantic Ocean when its on the Massachusetts Bay. |
