Feel free to disagree, but perhaps could simply "Congo" be acceptable for the Second Congo War?

Good idea. "Congo" is now an acceptable answer.

Some historians believe there were 2 world wars being fought simultaneously. The Second Sino-Japanese War starting in 1937, and the European conflict starting in 1939. These two seperate wars merged in 1941. I think this is a growing but still minority opinion. Your source uses numerous statistics to calculate the totals deaths, some that include the 2nd S-J War and others that don't and then finds the average. Using only the sources starting at 1937, you might be about 15 million short.

You (and your source, which seems self-limiting) are missing the Iran-Iraq war, with estimated casualties of between 1.25-1.50 million.

In fact the source (for which you've pasted the wrong link) does include the Iran-Iraq war with casualties of 1m, so that should be included.

How about alternative acceptable answers like Russian Revolution or Indian Pakistani War?

I tried Indo-Pakistan war, Bangladesh War of Independence, East Pakistan Rebellion, nada. Also, I tried variations of Zaire (what its name was at the start) and DRC (its name at the end), but never just Congo, so maybe add those two.

I understand for some wars, particularly World War I and World War II, because of the scope of the conflicts, you can't accept countries involved. But for some of the other ones, maybe accepting the the major players should be acceptable since they seem to be more regional.
