The common Sporcle names for those countries would still be accepted. I think most players appreciate the effort when quiz creators take the trouble to add abbreviations.
Interestingly, the one abbreviation you do approve of has an ambiguity problem of its own. If a player is trying to enter Ukraine, he may find that UK will be accepted instead -- what I call a premature acceptance problem. None of the other abbreviations I mentioned suffer from that deficiency as the rest of them are all unique and non-interfering.
I had to chuckle at the strongly disagree comment because it reminded me of the scene in "A Few Good Men":
"Objection." "Overruled." "Oh, no, no, no. No, I STRENUOUSLY object." "Oh. Well, if you strenuously object then I should take some time to reconsider."
and brings to mind a joke I once heard:
