	I also used the July 1, 2009 US Census estimates as a source. I found all of the cities with over 100,000 people and plugged them in on the map in the source I linked above. Then I zoomed in on each city and used that website's distance calculator by dragging from the city of interest to all the cities that were around it. As a rule of thumb, I kept it zoomed in enough to be able to see all of the closest cities unambiguously and individually, but I kept it zoomed out enough to include cities that definitely did not look like they were the closest, just for insurance. Also, I disregarded any cities outside of the USA. That means that if the closest city over 100,000 happened to be in Canada or Mexico it DID NOT COUNT. All distances were "as the crow flies." There's no such thing as "straight-line" distance on a globe, and if you try to find the nearest city to Honolulu you'll discover that! Anyway, this one has been in the works for a long time, and I can certainly use the data I've collected from working on it for some future quizzes if I think of something.

	Good job, but I'm not sure if I liked the answering in order. Also, if Albuquerque and El Paso are mutually closest to one another, shouldn't their distances be equal? I was surprised by Shreveport being #8, although it should be noted that Tyler, TX is almost at the 100,000 mark.

	I sort of feel like we're answering the questions backwards...I would like this more if we were given Anchorage, and asked to name the nearest city over 100,000. It's more logically direct than this way.

	Bellevue is right next to Seattle (1 or 2 miles) and less than 30 miles from Tacoma.

	OK, now I get it - I'm not trying to answer the closest city to Bellevue, but the city for which Bellevue is the closest city. That's really quite confusing - I agree with jjjoseph that turning this around might work better.

	People, the quiz is called "remotest US cities over 100,000 people." That means that's what you're guessing. I thought that was pretty clear, but evidently a lot of people got confused. I'm not trying to call anyone stupid for not getting it, I'm just trying to understand how I should make it clearer. @jjjoseph, setting up the quiz the way you suggest is by no means a bad idea, but here's why I don't want to do it: lots of US cities have a ton of suburbs and satellite cities, most notoriously LA, Dallas, and Phoenix. I don't think it's reasonable to expect anyone not very familiar with one of those areas to be able to guess which of those 20 or so cities is closest to "Remote city X." It also may be less accurate that way, since I don't know what my source's criteria were for measuring very small distances. It's basically the same reason I didn't make a "which cities are closest together" quiz. If you're curious about that, though, it's Miramar and Pembroke Pines, Florida, according to the source- a mere 1.2 miles apart. But are they measuring from the geographical center, or town hall, or what? I don't know. For example, I live in Raleigh, and the closest city to Raleigh is Cary- about 8.1 miles according to the source. But I can tell you, if you're driving to Cary from Raleigh, there's no in-between. Once you're out of one, you're in the other. So are Pembroke Pines and Miramar REALLY closer than Raleigh and Cary? Stuff like that would come into play if I rearranged the quiz. Guessing remote cities is a safe bet, and it limits haphazard guessing when there's no way you really know which of Phoenix's 800 satellite cities is closest to Tucson. If I give you "Chandler," however, and say there's a remote city 92 miles from it, then Tucson would be a reasonable guess for anyone to make. And it would be right. And on top of all that, "Guess the closest cities to the most remote cities in the US" would be kind of a confusing quiz in its own right. I'm open to suggestions on how to make

	Here's an idea: I could eliminate answering in order and also eliminate the hint column as it is, and just put the distance in the hint column instead. Then I'd turn the present hint column (i.e., the nearest city) into a hidden column so that it would show up once you've guessed it. For example 2,389\| \| would become 2,389\|Honolulu\|Daly City, CA once you've guessed Honolulu. Vote this up if I should change it to this and down if I shouldn't.
