	Accept Rangoon for Yangon. Not convinced about some of the USA places. Boston, New York etc yes. But were Seattle and Atlanta ever ruled over by Britain? I think not (although the Seattle area was visited by George Vancouver in 1792). And Miami was surely run by Spain originally

	Of the US places, New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington were all in the 13 original colonies (although Washington didn't exist as its own city at the time). Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, and Minneapolis were in the largely unsettled territory that came under British control after 1763 but was ceded to the new United States in 1783. Miami, as part of Spanish Florida, was likewise ceded to the British in 1763, but given back to Spain in 1783. Seattle was part of the Oregon Country, which was under joint British and U.S. sovereignty until it was partitioned in 1846.

	When I saw the title, I thought it was about population at given year prior to the fall of the British Empire. Having once attempted to write that quiz myself, however, I realise it is an Herculean task as there's simply no compilation of it anywhere. I was reduced to gather datas from every city on its own, and then extrapolate to get approximate populations - while considering the impact of wars, pestilence and boomtown effects. I liked this one too, though.

	This quiz appears to be mix of metro and non-metros. For example East Rand is part of Johannesburg metro etc.

	I'm skeptical of Seattle. I do not believe Britain ever ruled, de facto or de jure, the areas south of the 49th parallel, which was divided in 1818 with the Anglo-American Convention. Did Britain ever control it before hand? I don't believe so, but I'm also not positive on the fact. All the others in the USA were ruled by the British de facto and de jure, however, including Miami and the bonus answer of Tampa.

	About the Seattle issue: johnlk explained it well. @cuendillar: Yeah, I should have explained that better. This quiz includes metros by current population, and regardless of whether they even existed at the time. I'll change the question to better explain that...

	Chicago was founded in 1733, but Illinois was not calimed by British North America or USA until 1800ish. Seattle was always a part of USA, no valid claim existed until 1848. The area north of 42 was under British, US and even Russian Influence (Fort Ross). Former British colonies, of the USA only include Georgia to Massachusetts, anything else is wrong like Miami, which was spanish florida until 1815. Also the list is British empire, when the "Empire" did not really exist until 1877, when Victoria was made empress of India, before then it was just British colonies.
