I still don't get why Stanford is it's own city when it isn't-does that mean that "Stanford, CA" has its own city council, mayor, police, fire, post office, etc.?

Stanford has its own post office and therefore zip code. But it is an unincorporated area and not considered a city, town, or any municipality. Census Designated areas are given zip codes and post offices.

Way too much time for this. 2 minutes should be enough for this. Certainly not more than 3.
