@Mike: Sorry for the typo. Fixed it. @mwmw127ny: UC Berkeley is now accepted

Maybe also accept University of Texas? Surely most people who type that mean UT-Austin, and in other states (Illinois, Wisconsin) you don't need to give the city.

I agree with the Texas suggestion. I would say the same thing for UC Berkeley. Most of the Sports quizzes accept just Cal or California for that school so Sporconsistency would be nice.

Yeah, should definitely take Texas for UT-Austin. Especially since accepting "Austin" by itself doesn't really make sense anyway. Nobody calls UT just "Austin".

As an alum and current employee... can you please accept UNC, or at least UNC Chapel Hill? I don't know what you needed to type in to get it accepted, but no one calls UNC "North Carolina," maybe to avoid confusion with NC State.

Wooboy, I obviously need to hit the books some more, considering I only got 17 right. Ow. Very nice quiz, though - 5 stars!

Why does simply typing the state work for places such as UNC and Texas, but not for California? Cal-Berkeley is the flagship campus of the University of California system. You should either accept 'California' for that one or require the name of the University for other similar ones.

Learned something: I always thought Rocky Balboa ran up the steps to the Philadelphia Public Library. Nope. It was the Art Gallery. Great quiz!

@pita, how about them? Pretty sure it's still UNC, unless you're just guessing states. It doesn't matter though, because I'm not saying "North Carolina" shouldn't be accepted, I'm saying that "UNC" should be.

You should accept Illinois for University of Illinois and you should accept Minnesota for University of Minnesota. For some reason, it wouldn't take these when I typed them in... and you not accepting answers that are reasonable seems to be a theme here.

Sorry for all the ridiculous omissions. FWIW, this quiz was created back when user-created games were first introduced, and several Sporcle conventions were not yet standard (UNC, Ohio St., etc.). I would have updated it had I thought anyone still played it.

teh_DR: If you're looking for Northeast universities with strong psych programs, look at the Ivy's: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Penn all have strong psych programs. Maryland, UVA, Carnegie-Mellon, and Johns Hopkins are all top-50 programs as well.

Amusing (but not surprising) that there are only two in the former confederate states.

@atakdog: Actually it has less to do with politics and more to do with two factors: the age of the city and the conference of the school. Public libraries were considered a huge part of cultural standing during the 1800s, so the biggest cities at that time were most likely to chase after books. Big Ten and Ivy League schools did it out of the "I have a bigger library than you" race, also a 19th century thing. Today the US culture is very sports-driven; it's the cities with the most (and best) major league teams that get bragging rights.

Surprised the Free Library of Philadelphia didn't make the cut. Did a lot of high school research at the main branch which is enormous! I know the collection has over 6 million items. Oh, and @chikka2, that "gallery" that Rocky ran up is called the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

If you would add Iowa, Illinois as well as Purdue you would have the Big 10 quiz. I guess I had a inner blond moment when I am not blond. How could I not get the Congress? Oh well stupid me I guess
