so are snap, crackle, and pop named after the cereal? because i have a feeling rice krispies didn't just randomly decide to name their mascots after the fourth through sixth derivatives of displacement.

A pity you didn't specify derivatives with respect to time (not that anyone is likely to be confused by that, but it's better to be precise).
