would be a good quiz but you need to accept short versions of the universities. no one is gonna spell out "university of"

A few of these confused me because I never realized they didn't do an end of season poll in NCAA Basketball, couldn't figure out why George Mason wouldn't have been on here after their 2006 Final Four run, but I guess the final poll is taken right before March Madness starts.

Must accept short versions of the schools. Thank God University of Maryland Baltimore County didn't make the list.

Surprised it didn't accept 'Michigan State'; I can't believe I wasted half a second of my life typing out 'University'. Ugh.

Thanks for the indiana university i cant believe i forgot about that. And for michigan state, it should accept michigan st and be counted for. also you dont have to write "university of" first to have the answer it accepts regular versions of the school too like just "illinois" works.

Also, about why no cinderellas are on the final poll is because the associated press does it before march madness starts.

My source was the AP polls from espn.com, but since they don't show the 2000-01 or 2001-02 seasons, I found those on stanford's news archives site.

If you type in "Michigan State" fast enough, it bypasses the accepted answer of "Michigan St". Did you include "Michigan State" as one of the acceptable answers? It does the same thing with Oklahoma State.

Is it jsut me or is this missing a bunch of teams? VaTech, St Marys, Seton Hall, Cal, Tulsa and Air Force jump to mind immediately.

OK, according to the AP, the quiz is missing 21 teams. http://www.collegepollarchive.com/mbasketball/ap/app_total.cfm?sort=totapp&decade=2000s&rows=all

Like I said before, these teams above are the ones who have made the FINAL AP poll each year in the 2000's. All the teams you've mentioned haven't been on the last one taken during the year.

I don't think your link is for the final poll or is there no post tourney poll? Because in the 2005-2006 season George Mason made the final four and surely would have been ranked in the top 25 after such a showing. Also I am pretty sure Bradley had a top 25 ranking after their sweet 16 run a few years ago and Northern Iowa after last year's tourney run

There is no post-tourney poll. These polls reflect the last poll that AP takes BEFORE the tournament starts, which is why none of the cinderellas are on there.

There is a final Coach's poll just not a final AP poll which is where the confusion comes in, this year Ohio St. got a #1 vote in the final coaches poll despite not making the final four. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/usatpoll.htm

Also, as for y2jdilemma's comment and link about the AP, that list encompasses teams who've made at least one of the 189 polls it took during the 2000's. I'm only taking the 10 polls taken during the last week of the season.

Every Big XII team made this list with the exception of Colorado and Nebraska -- the two teams leaving. Here's to greener basketball pastures in the Big Ten and Pac-12... #NotLikely

I know you have it in the game note, but you need to have the word "final" in the question at the top. That would eliminate the confusion about whether there are teams missing. I played the entire quiz without realizing you were only talking about teams that made the final AP poll.
