| This quiz just points out how bad the US is at teaching history. We have two men who started the country. One man who saved the country, and a bunch of people from the 20th century, mmany of whom are still alive. While I agree that some of them should be on the list, most of them will have no lasting influence on the country. @Troublemaker - FDR should be on the list. While I don't agree with all of either his policies or his methods, if Hoover had won, we would probably have had a communist revolution within the next four years. It is debatable whether Reagan 'won' the Cold War, and it certainly can be argued that while getting us out of the recession of the Seventies, he also was almost as bad an example of no tax, but still spend Republicans as George Bush II was. Really, though, it is still too soon to decide his importance in American history. While Kennedy's assassination was memorable, I don't think he ranks as one of the top 25. Much of what is attributed to Kennedy was actually accomplished by Johnson. I agree that Ford and King should be on the list, though. Elvis, Oprah, Graham, Hope, Ali,both Armstrongs, and even Parks as influential as each has been simply aren't of the same caliber. |
