Just a quick note: the seasons listed show when the thing being hunted was the "Monster of the Week", so to speak. So even though the the thing that is labeled as having been in Seasons 1, 3, and 4, has actually been in all four seasons, it was only the episode's villain to the brothers during those three seasons. Also, I'll update Season 5 in when it is finished. Finally, I have a question for anyone taking this quiz: Do you like the quiz the way it is, or would you prefer the quiz to be changed up so that you have to say what the monster was in each specific episode (i.e. the clue would be the episode name instead of the season number, and you'd have to specify the thing being hunted for that specific episode)?

Hey - just happy to see a Supernatural quiz - love that show - fair play - enjoyed the quiz

Thanks man. Turns out I decided to do a separate quiz for the monsters by episode anyway - http://www.sporcle.com/games/V_s/supernaturalmoneps. Not sure which one's tougher, but now if you've got a preference between naming them in general and naming them according to the episode they were in, you've got that choice.

But now we know that there was never a trickster at all...just Gabriel.

Yeah, I've been debating with myself whether or not to remove that one. I think I'm going to leave it up though because we were never definitively told that it had been Gabriel in all 3 episodes though. It definitely was in Season 5 and it probably was in Season 3, but in his first appearance in Season 2 he was just acting as a janitor who was playing deadly tricks on people. He wasn't trying to teach anyone a lesson like in Seasons 3 and 5. He also tried to bargain with Dean for his life. The Season 2 Trickster was a little too convincing to just be an angel acting like a Trickster, IMO. So since we don't know for sure that the Trickster was really an angel back in Seasons 2 and 3 (though I'm willing to bet it really was Gabriel back in Season 3 at least), I think I might leave things as is for the time being. If you can think of something I'm forgetting though that proves he was Gabriel back in Season 2 or can think of some alternate solution for the hints, please let me know.

I think it makes sense to leave it even if it was Gabriel the whole time because we were told it was a trickster during those two episodes. And to remove it could be confusing to anyone who isn't up to date.

You should specify 'antagonist' instead of saying 'monster.' Prophet isn't a monster and neither is a hunter, or even an angel really. Also you could group the horsemen, imo. Gonna check out your other quiz either way :)

How is "Prophet" a monster? Prophet and hunter should be under human. Are they no longer human? And Poltergeist should be under spirit, it was basically a spirit otherwise various types of spirits (thought forms, lady in white, death omen) should all be seperate as well. Croatoan virus isn't a monster, it's a virus.

@ max - "Prophet" is a monster because of my source. k3lit0 is correct. The quiz would better be named "antagonist" rather than monster (as the prophet and the virus are the main antagonists or thing the brothers hunt down during their respective episodes), but the site that I'm using for my source groups every antagonist as a "monster", so I had to remain true to the source even if that was just slightly different from the show. Also, in the episode "Home" they made a point to differentiate the poltergeist from the ghost of the brothers' mother. With the possible exception of the ghost shown in "Swap Meat", it appears that Supernatural is going by the definition of poltergeist as an evil spirit that was never living at one time. The category "Spirit" is for the people who died and came back. Poltergeists don't fit that category, so they're a separate creature.

Can whoever voted this quiz a "1" explain why, so I can fix it?

Nice quiz! Perhaps you could accept Samhain as well as God of the Winter Solstice? Enjoyed it though! :)
Sep 18th, 2010 at 22:48 GMT
^Thanks! God of the Winter Solstice and Samhain are already acceptable answers though. Samhain's a demon, so if you type in his name, "Demon" will be answered. And "God of the Winter Solstice" has always been one of the answers. Glad you enjoyed it though!

I decided to include the two new types of monsters that you-know-who created this season since they made a big deal about naming them in this past episode. So the silly names are now being taken as their actual names (and that was the reason I had the first one just as a bonus answer for a while). If anyone has any issue with this decision, let me know, and we can work something out.
