Thanks to everyone that tries this game out. This is my first ever quiz and I did a lot of research to find all of these. As far as I know this is every All-Star they've ever traded. If someone finds one that I'm missing, please let me know. Enjoy!

Good quiz, and a really sad state of affairs if you're a Marlins fan!!!

Good deal. I didn't know Santana was ever a Marlin.

It's actually really impressive that the Marlins have traded away this many talented players before they peaked and have yet still won 2 World Series in the last 13 years. That's more than a lot of teams can say.

Santana was a Marlin for about ten minutes. The Marlins had an agreement with the Twins to take him in the Rule 5 draft and then trade him to the Twins. In retrospect, the Marlins would have been well served to decline the Twins' offer and just draft and keep Santana for themselves.

A lot of this is from their fire sale after winning the World Series in 1997. The owner puts a stranglehold on their payroll to that he can land big profits, but then jacks it up when he wants to make the playoffs. At least the organization is run well despite being put through that constantly. If they didn't sell the team after 1997 they stand to win a few more World Series.

When researching for this game I was expecting to have Mike Hampton as an answer, kind of along the lines of Santana. The Marlins acquired him for about an hour before shipping him off to the Braves for Tim Spooneybarger. Problem is, Hampton never made an ASG afterwards. Ironically, Spooneybarger actually pitched LESS than Hampton did, he got hurt and ultimately retired a year later.

Although they've had some misses, it's interesting to see how they were able to many times they actually "won" trades. Getting Derek Lee, Sheffield, Hanley Ramirez, etc. That being said, they probably would've liked to take back the Johan Santana and Adrian Gonzalez trades.

Hard to argue with a team that has won 2 World Series titles in less then 20 years, and they are stocking up again, The fire sales suck, but if they are able to build the team up every 5 years, well there are worse things.

Please add the Cubs to the team list for Matt Clement, since that's who the Marlins traded him to...fun quiz!nice job!

Great quiz. On top of all the players who were traded, there were several great players that they just let their contracts expire and went elsewhere.

The reason the Cubs are not listed for Clement is simply because he did not make an All-Star team while he was with them. The team names only refer to the teams with which each player made an ASG. Hope that clears things up.

uh, competitive almost every year. and there is a small die-hard group of marlins fans, hopefully more now that they're giving long-term contracts with a new stadium on the way. Santana, as previously mentioned, was never really a marlin, piazza was a marlin for like 4 games, and redman only made the allstar game with KC because of the one player per team rule

Expect this list to dwindle as time goes on. MLB is forcing the Marlins to start spending money. Now let's start punishing the teams on top for spending too much and finally make it fair to all teams no matter "how well their organization is run."

Only a couple of these were real misses, especially given how often the Marlins have to dump players who are due to make too much money. On the whole the Marlins are actually probably one of the best trading teams in baseball, as this interesting blog post demonstrates: http://sullybaseball.blogspot.com/2008/11/florida-marlins-all-time-home-grown.html

Was just scouring over baseball-reference.com again to make 100% sure i had everything here right and i did find one error. For my research i used both baseball-reference and mlb.com. Well, turns out that mlb.com has Alou making 2 ASG's with Houston and 2 with the Cubs (which is what i originally used for this quiz). But in checking baseball-reference, they have Alou making 2 w/ HOU, 1 w/ CHC and 1 w/ San Francisco. So, i looked up the actual roster for the '05 game and sure enough Alou is listed for the Giants. It's a minor mistake, but i appologize for not seeing it sooner. Hope it didn't throw anyone off.

Ok looking it up Johan Santana was never a Marlin, He was on the Astros as of 99 then traded as of the rule 5 draft. Then went to the Twins and the rest is history. BTW I live down here i go to the games. They are a very fun team to watch so **** the haters!

While Santana never suited up for the Marlins, he was their property and they did trade him which makes him an answer on this quiz. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/santajo02.shtml#trans

CABRERA, and i know they were never all stars (again), but you should at least include Willis, Brown, Penny, Burnett, Delgado, Castillo, Pierre.

Cabrera will get added to this list when he actually makes an All-Star team, which should be this year.

Now that Cabrera has officially made an All-Star team with the Tigers, he's been added. Just went through the list of 1st time All-Stars in this year's game. None of them, aside from Cabrera, have ever been traded by the Marlins.
