It seemed like you all enjoyed my last quiz, so here's a similar one! And just like last time, for anyone who's curious, the state with the lowest neighbor population is Maine, which only borders New Hampshire.

Well, Alaska and Hawaii don't border any other states. I suppose you could maybe do an alternate version of this where you include bordering Mexican states and Canadian provinces.

@Kiwi: You know what? This would be a great candidate for the "Hide Next Clue" quiz. Otherwise if you can enter all 50 States in 3 minutes you can sail thru this quiz. Only problem is when you "give up" the third column appears.
Still might be worth a shot here, but up the time to 4 or 5 minutes.

I like how the top answer doesn't border on any of the 4 most populated states--it just hits a whole bunch of reasonably high-population states.

Look at Kentucky, finally getting first place in a non-negative category.

@rockgolf: I see where you're coming from but I think that this quiz is better served by staying as it is. For example, people would start by guessing states bordering California(for good reason) but run up against a wall with Kentucky and probably spend a while wildly guessing, just to name one potential problem. And like so many other people, I would miss seeing the missed answers. I do have something utilizing the new format in the works, though, so I haven't completely written it off.

I am so embarrassed. The only one I missed is the state in which I live (Arizona).

I liked your bonus answers. How about adding Puerto Rico, something like, "Even if Puerto Rico WERE a state, which it is not, it is still an island." I'd also be interested in seeing how DC fares, border population-wise.

DC borders Virginia and Maryland , so it would be around 13 million. And I'm liking your bonus idea.

@rockgolf - If people were able to get past Kentucky without being to frustrated, almost no one will get past the first column. Besides that, I generally dislike "hide the next clue" quizzes. Also, (unrelated) I liked seeing the bordering states right next to the answers.

An alternative to rockgolf's suggestion is to force order. That way, you can see all the populations in advance, and you have to guess the specific spot the state would go in. That would also require a time boost. However, I also like the quiz how it stands; some very surprising (yet in hindsight obvious) answers :)

I agree with rockgolf on this one. Typing in fifty states in 3 minutes isn't especially hard, so it takes away the point of the quiz if you just name every state. I would suggest making the quiz a minefield where entering a wrong state would end the quiz.

Good for you, Wisconsin, for appearing on a quiz that doesn't involve cheese or the letter W.

I like the quiz the way it is. Don't change it!
