not so good. I would have made the radius bigger. maybe to 50 miles at least. probably 100. I wouldnt call 30 miles very far. its only a half an hour drive!

overall good quiz. i kinda gave up prematurely just because i lost interest, but the time is way too long. i got 18/20 with still 3:30 left. so i would probably make the quiz 1 or 2 minutes shorter

Isnt Baltimore 30 miles from DC ? I never would have put that even though I did think of Baltimore-Washington...nahhh

Indianapolis? Also, wouldn't New Orleans be better as a bonus answer, because of Metairie?

I was thinking Indianapolis as well. I don't believe there is a city within 30 miles with population > 100,000.

@VikingDevil53: According to http://www.geobytes.com/citydistancetool.htm, Baltimore and Washington are 34 miles apart.

@BoomRShine: probably they are still farther apart. Of course you must specify the exact points, but between the White House and Baltimore City Hall the distance is 57.1 kilometers or 35.5 miles.

Indianapolis, for sure.

Nice quiz, but I think it would be more interesting and perhaps more challenging if it was just "most remote cities" where population size didn't matter and it just went off the distance to the next city of over 100,000. In fact, I'm gonna go make that quiz now.

Could have sworn Camden, NJ was over 100,000 but I guess the city itself is just under that whereas the county is way over it.

Indianapolis has been added, my bad. @XYlophonetreeZ, just make sure to include some population minimum at least, to ensure that you don't get super-obscure cities. But great idea.

@XYlophonetreeZ: I presume you're talking about 100,000+ cities only? Good idea. The first cities I tried here (when I hadn't looked at the table) were Anchorage, Boise, Billings... I'm thinking those would appear in your quiz.

No Minneapolis I can understand, but no St. Paul? Ridiculous!

El Paso? Or are you counting Ciudad Juarez?

I really liked this quiz, but I think ZYlophonetreeZ's idea sounds great! It would give more of a sense of the isolation of the cities instead of just basically being the biggest cities that don't have any huge suburbs nearby.

how about smaller cities. Billings is like 400 miles away from the nearest largest city 100,000+ Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, or even Anchorage which is 1,500 miles north of Vancouver

I was also quite surprised about the Baltimore answer. I live in D.C. and the outskirts of D.C. are definitely closer than 30 miles to the outskirts of Baltimore. BUT...this quiz is based on the city proper, and NOT the metro area, which is why it's valid. Technically the cities are 36 miles apart.
