Surprisingly, this is (at least in parts) very easy for ESL speakers, since many of the words exist in other languages too (since they tend to be the ubiquitous foreign words imported from Latin or other languages) where the pronunciation really wouldn't allow for the alternates here. No German would think of spelling "sacreligious", since the "e" and "i" sounds in "Sakrileg" are very distinct in German and just can't be confused - one of the few last-syllable "e"s that ain't a schwa.
Make a similar one about German spelling and you'll get me, though, probably. But not with Rhythmus/Rytmus. |
