I mean, kudos for using an actual linguistic study rather than just someone on the internet making things up, but the study isn't at all what you describe. You've taken a list of the *first* fifty words spoken by *one* child, and labeled it as the fifty *most common* words spoken by *children*. (Did it not occur to you that "Muriel" was a really unlikely word for children in general to say?) And of course the fact that it's not "words commonly spoken by children" but rather "things this one child said", it's a terrible basis for a quiz; I might as well ask you to try to name the first fifty words I think of. |
