	Just a note about the IUCN categories. Native means that a confirmed wild population is found in the country. Possibly Extinct generally means that there just might be a few running around, but we're not sure. Regionally Extinct means that there's almost certainly no wild tigers.

	Just checked my copy of Riding the Tiger and apparently Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia are also part of their former range, which would make sense if they are in Turkey and Iran and the 'Stans. Odd that the IUCN doesn't list them.

	@fifteen Is this "Riding the Tiger" the children's book, the book out Tibetan Buddhism, the one about corporate intrigue in India or another one I can't find on Amazon that's actually about Tigers? Either way, the IUCN is a reliable source, but I see what you're saying. It would make sense.

	@treehuggn: it is the one about tigers, of course! Wow, I guess you can't get it anymore (I got it at a conference years ago). I wouldn't change the quiz to add those countries because the IUCN is pretty good, I just thought it was odd. @thebantams: Detroit, Alabama, Auburn (South Carolina), Cincinnati, Princeton (NJ).... have tigers as their symbol despite none ever being in the USA. The are just cool and fear inspiring!

	@thebantams Here's a guess at why. Tigers are very important in Chinese folklore and traditional medicine. Korea shares a lot of those cultural elements, and South Korea is one of the biggest importers of contraband animal body parts for traditional Chinese medicine. Tiger genitalia are actually particularly popular as a sexual aid. Anyways, my point is that tigers are a strong element in Chinese culture, and the Koreas share a good bit of that culture with China.

	@Patricio: Because to get their they would have to go through North Korea, and they would probably get shot by North Korean border security for attempting to escape the country.
