| Heh, careful what you wish for. You have wolves in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, and the mountain lions are starting to come back on their own. Just give 'em time. I'm personally generally anti-predator reintroductions. If there's prey and a way to get there, they will come. Instead of spending all that money on captures, releases and intensive monitoring, spend it on wildlife corridors, and they'll have habitat for years to come :) Just my two cents. The wolf reintroductions really ruffled a lot of feathers in my neck of the woods, and they were naturally migrating back anyways. There's just no reason to waste money and make people angry at the same time. If you want to see how polarizing wolves are, go to my source and look up press releases. Apparently wolves are the worst ecological disaster since the slaughter of the buffalo, at least from the perspective of the Elk Foundation. And that's from a conservation organization :) |
