The ruling for accepting an abbreviation for the school starting with U, but no others, is this: 1) It appears that way in the NCAA record book; 2) It's the only school with that abbreviation; 3) Nobody in the WORLD writes their full name out. If I accepted abbreviations for every team, then some people would get answers right on accident, like the one for the letter M.

You need to accept BYU for brigham young though. It is the same letter and nobody types out the whole thing.

The better reason would be name based on school's accepted listed name, which would include UCLA, UTEP, UNLV, USF, etc. Also, I know it is stated in the notes, but there is no reason to deviate from Sporcle standards in this quiz. Regulars abbreviations of UNC, BYU, and "St" for state should be accepted for every answer (since you accept Penn anyway).

I accepted "Penn" because you type it on the way to typing the full name. @fordefr: Point taken on BYU. It's listed that way in the NCAA book, it's a unique abbreviation, and virtually no one types out the whole thing. @bsd987: I'm accepting "St" for state.

I would agree with UNLV or UTEP, or even IUPUI, but of course all of these are moot. Oh yeah, got Missouri State, but Duke, that one escaped me somehow.

Missouri State? Really? It was just renamed that 5 years ago... Technically, most of those wins were under the name Southwest Missouri State. I guess it could go either way but as far as I know every other answer has had their names the same for the duration of their wins.

@MattL1216: I see your point. But, since they're listed as Missouri State in the NCAA Record Book, they'll go under the M category.

I tried Idaho, Idaho State, Iowa and Iowa State before finally getting the I answer. Gotta love Sporcle.

@TheBigE1980: I see your point and like I said it could go either way, loved the quiz regardless, keep it up.

something isn't working. I typed in missouri state, Missouri State also, and neither appear. I re-took the quiz to ensure that I hadn't spelled it wrong. You may want to check. Otherwise, nice quiz.

@mat1331: I think I fixed the "Missouri State" issue. When I fixed the quiz to allow "St" for "State," I forgot to leave it where it would accept "State" typed out.
