Can you name the words that become new words when a letter is added to the middle?
created by
Tahnan
Enter a word in the box below
Correctly named words will show up below
Answers do not have to be guessed in order
Each four-letter word becomes a five-letter word when its clue letter is put in the center. For instance, given "r. Greek letters/Comedian Rock", the answer would be "chis/Chris". (Type either word.)

Hey, y'all! I'm hoping this works for people; I always have a really hard time telling whether clues are too easy or too hard, and whether the time is right. Let me know what you think, by all means.

I like this quiz a lot. The difficulty is good. I could have used more time, but I know a lot of sporclers love to rush.

Excellent quiz, with a nice touch on the pair of clues for V.

Actually, I loved the clues, esp. e, l, and v. Very nicely done.

Is it bad that I made it to "no(v)el" before realizing the added letters were in alphabetical order? It's bad, isn't it? Oh well...

I kept reading "Close" as in the opposite of far, not the opposite of open... Oh well.

@deugea: I did one better (worse?) and didn't realize that until it was all over. And it's still a great word quiz either way!

I'll bet when you wrote that "A Christmas carol" clue on one side and "Oliver Twist" or "Great Expectations" clue on the other that you were just pleased as the dickens with yourself. Good. You deserve to be.

This was fun! My only suggestion would be to accept only the 5-letter word. I got nearly all of them by just going down the first column.

Just to say, Dijon isn't a region of France, any more than Detroit is a region of the USA. It's a city. Other than that, bravo!

Blast--why are errors never caught in the production process? (d) should absolutely read "a Best" (I suspect I had "Academy Award" in there and deleted it for length and/or redundancy), and "a region of France" should absolutely read "a city in France" (for which I can only echo Samuel Johnson: "Ignorance, madam, pure ignorance"). Sadly, I can't fix these things now that it's been published, but hopefully someone can.

I too did the entire puzzle without realizing that the missing letter was GIVEN for each question. When am I going to start reading the instructions more carefully before beginning! But it was still fun even though I made that mistake.

Could L be "feature of pinata" instead of "feature of a pinata"? I mean, you're referencing the word, not the object, right?
