| I'd agree with Riko with the following corrections. Armenia is entirely in Asia, the border is the Caucasus mountains, which run through Azerbaijan and Georgia. Kazakhstan is also partly in Europe, the part west of the Ural river. I would say that it is only the political and cultural ties that grey Cyprus' position in Europe/Asia. In a physical geography sense, it's always placed in Asia, but as you say its cultural and political ties are much stronger with Europe. |
