Correctly named answers will show up below
Answers do not have to be guessed in order
Cognates are words in different languages that are similar because they descend from the same root language. Ex: Baseball and Béisbol
Note: The term 'uncommon' is used a bit loosely here because clearly some of these words are more common than others...go with it!

Good quiz. Should accept "debility" as well for débil.

I have it setup where if the Spanish word is an adjective, then only its cognate (English adjective) can be accepted.

How about "veritably" for "verdaderamente"?

Good catch; I've included veritably as an acceptable answer.

More cognate suggestions: "escribir" should also allow "script," "débil" should also allow "debilitate" and "debilitated," "fácil" should also allow "facilitate," "impuesto" should allow "imposition," and "lealtad" should also allow "loyalty" (still a cognate, it's the same root through French).

Thanks for the suggestions. I've incorporated them with the following exceptions: debilitate is a verb, so that is not acceptable (same for facilitate). I've included loyalty as an acceptable answer, but lealty is really the more uncommon answer.

Might I suggest that just as the answer in English is not "the deity" the clue in Spanish does not need to be "el dios". If you drop the definite articles it would read better in Spanish, alternatively you could replace them with an indefinite article ex. "un edificio". The exception of course being, "La Navidad".

You'll generally see Spanish text books include definite articles in vocab lists. I've modeled this quiz after that format. It also helps for remembering tricky masculine/feminine words (e.g., el programa).

'escribir' should include 'to scribble.' That's definitely a word used in the UK, not sure if you use it in America.
