I totally missed And Then There Were None because I always thought of it as Ten Little Indians. :(
May 23rd, 2012 at 20:05 GMT
When I first read it it was called 'Ten Little Niggers'. (am old) There are so many others to choose from, why pick the only one that's undergone multiple name changes?

Fantastic fun, some great choices.

A couple of quibbles over the names: Byron should be under B, since 'Lord' was his title, not part of his name; and Conan Doyle should be under C, since Conan was the first part of the surname rather than a second forename.

Why pick Good Omens as the book for Terry Pratchett since it was written in collaboration with Neil Gaiman?
Sep 18th, 2012 at 16:49 GMT
@ChileNoseJam: Library convention is that if someone has a two-part surname that isn't hyphenated, you file them under the second part of the surname. Don't know if Sporcle convention is the same though...

Thackeray is misspelled.

Conan Doyle's father's surname was simply "Doyle," so it's not at all clear that this was really a double-barreled name.

Great quiz, very tiring too. The amount of times I was about to click Jane Austen as having written "Jane Eyre" was too much.

@katipo: I know the feeling....I actually did click it.

Thanks for a lit quiz that's not just about Harry Potter, Hunger Games, or Lord of the Rings. Not that there's anything wrong with those, but the world of books is so vast that it's a shame to see so many narrow quizzes.

And they said being an English major would do me no good!

Too British author centric. ;) And darn those Bronte sisters! I can never remember which is which!
Sep 23rd, 2012 at 08:27 GMT
Very good mix of male and female, different types of writing and old and new. Great quiz THEJMAN!

Thank heavens this was a clickable. If I'd had to come up with some of these names on my own, I would have been in big trouble.

I got them all except the Bronts, couldn't remember which was which.
Sep 23rd, 2012 at 19:53 GMT
Should be spelled George Gordon Byron
