Cyprus has 2 vowels, Kyrgyzstan has 3 vowels. "Y" is a vowel when there are no other vowels in the same syllable.

I can't understand these "'y' is a vowel in the middle of two consonants". How on earth should we really pronounce Kyrgyzstan. Kjrgjzstan? Egjpt? Cjprus? This is not Russian, it's English. Terrible.

The quiz is fine, but you might want to add as one of those bullet points that, in this quiz, 'y' counts as a consonant.

The "y" maybe sound as a vowel in the cases mentioned, but it remains a consonant. The quiz is good.

It is both. Phonetics decide wether or not something is a vowel. When it is /j/ as in /jɛmən/ than the is considered a consonant because the /j/ phoneme is considered one. In somthing like /iːdʒɪpt/ is a vowel because /I/ is a vowel. The graphemes do not make vowels or consonants.
