Yes, Bonds had 514 steals, but he should be credited with only 488. Twenty-six times a pitcher threw to first base for a pickoff attempt - when Bonds broke for second, the throw from the first basemen hit him in the back of his enormous head and bounced harmlessly into the outfield.
