B and A give problems. They worked when I typed a space after them, but I think you have to enable 1-letter answers.

Yeah, b and a only work with spaces. Plus it would be nice to have one of those little secret boxes that pop up for typing select, because "... a select start" is just as well known as without the select.

I think you're a horrible person for calling it the "contra code", rather than the "konami code".

My mom used to type this code in for my brothers and I when we were little because we couldn't move our fingers fast enough. Good times, brings back memories :)

I actually asked the Sporcle admins to make this game themselves so that each answer could be a box (lie, for example, the "Digits of Pi" quiz). I guess it wasn't a good enough idea... but I still think it is. Of course, that's why they own the site and I'm just a dude who uses it too much.

Perhaps select should be a bonus answer, in case two people are taking this quiz together?

The Contra code is wrong, since I believe it first appeared in Gradius. Still most people just call it the Konami code.

Ahh yes, the fastest way to blow yourself up in Gradius III. It took me a little bit to figure out that you had to sub in the left and right shoulder buttons to not explode.

@hnd03 That's correct, it was originally used in Gradius, but was most well-known as being in Contra. I've never heard it be called the "Contra Code" (even being in retro gaming circles) and the title, in my opinion, should be changed in accordance to that.

If you repeated the BA, no harm was done, you still got the bonus lives. Also, technically, start is not part of the code.

It's funny...when I play Contra I get the code to work without having to press start at the end of it (although I know that's theoretically part of the code.) Differs between various Konami games I guess.
