	In case people are wondering why so many countries are not here, a lot of countries were still technically apart of either the UK, Spain or France.

	As said above, Hungary was most certainly not part of the Soviet Union (although it was a Warsaw Pact nation, which might be what you meant). Also, calling Austria "German Austria" doesn't make any sense, the only time in the 20th century Austria was "German" was when it was annexed by the Third Reich from 1938 to 1945.

	The Netherlands was only an kingdom until 1848. It was an republic in 1919.

	Iceland was not independent until 1944. Before that it was a territory of Denmark, just like the Färö Islands and Greenland are now. Tannu Tuva was independent as well in 1919. There are several other issues with this quiz, such as "Serbs, Croats and Slovenes". The country was called "Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes", and should be accepted as an answer. The Austro-Hungarian empire did split into Austria and Hungary in 1919, but their territories were not formally renounced until their separate treaty at the end of WWI was signed (in 1922). Additionally, several of your dates and descriptions are simply incorrect.

	Agree with all the above comments. Also Bhutan was a country before this... I think Britain had some influence over foreign affairs. Also, although the Vatican was formed in 1929, te 'Holy See' existed as a sovereign entity long before this.

	@mathijsP: the Netherlands is still a kingdom. Further are missing several states that existed for a short time after the collapse of the Russian czarist empire and Austria Hungary. In the Caucasus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan existed as separate states until 1922. In the Ukraine several states existed in 1919: the Ukrainian People's Republic with Kiev as capital; the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was a separate state still with capital Kharkiv; and the West Ukrainian People's Republic with capital Lviv existed on former soil of Austria-Hungary. In Latvia, three states existed in 1919: the Soviet-backed Latvian Socialist Republic; the German-backed United Baltic Duchy; and the entente-backed Latvian state that eventually emerged.

	Your hint for Germany is incorrect. The "First Reich" was the Holy Roman Empire (800-1806), the "Second Reich" was the Wilhelminian Empire. But that empire was abolished in November 1918, and the republic proclaimed, so that one was also over.

	yeah...Rumania was not the official spelling it was an ALTERNATE spelling just as correct as Romania so you should make both acceptable because you might as well make it Roumenia, even though they call themselves România, but that's just getting technical...don't disrespect the Romanians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

	@Hamburger Iceland was indeed independent in 1919 and had been since Dec 1st 1918. Iceland did how ever have a personal union with Denmark where Christian X was king of the Kingdom Of Iceland as well as Denmark,Faeroe Islands and Greenland. That arrangement was up for review according to the 1918 treaty in 1940 but to do Germany´s occupation of Denmark there was no chance to renew the arrangement and Iceland voted in a referendum on May 24th 1944 to sever the union with Denmark and change from a kingdom to a republic and did so officially on June 17th 1944. So while Iceland might consider 17th of June as there independence day(as well as December 1st) it was indeed a independent sovereign in 1919 it just wasn't a republic.
