This is really cool. Check 'accept single letters as answers.' Also, some of the bonus answers are kind of annoying because they cut you off when you're trying to type something else. Really sweet quiz though

Yeah, I realized the single character answer right after releasing the quiz. As for the bonus answers, I think I have a way to deal with them. I don't want to eliminate them, but I also don't want them getting in the way. I had originally included a "cheat" for them as kind of a goofy Easter Egg, but I think I'll just list it as part of the instructions instead. Thanks for the compliments & help!

The results would probably be a lot more...colorful if Melissa Leo had won more than once.

^ How hard could that "preparation" possibly be?.... Just grab the top 30 in your own quiz, shuffle them around, throw in the words "Sporcle", "administration" and "nominating", and there you go! No one will notice. It'll sound just like any typical Oscar acceptance speech as far as I can tell! ;)

Typical Acceptance Speech:
Know it was an honor for me here tonight. Thank you Academy because of this and that. All I want in life is just be with a wife. We love to have the film ‘Up’ at our work, so very much, but if not the movie on, us are like: “my!”
(Yes, I did work way too hard on getting each word once...)
*Also, a more sincere thank you to the Sporcle admins for putting this contest together, and to everyone who played, rated, and nominated my quiz!

Congrats on winning the contest Stanford!
I do appreciate the bonus answers for words that just missed the cut. However, I was really annoyed when the bonus answers got in the way of getting real answers. For example, "Than" coming up when I was going for "Thank", and "Her" when I want to get "Here".

In regards to the bonus answers, you can type "Kyrgyzstan" to make all of them appear at once. I originally had a game note about that, but it was taken down upon publication. However, it still does work.

@kick- Yeah, I already referenced that in the archived comments. When I was creating the quiz I had spelled it like that in the title, but then quickly realized my mistake. However, when you create a quiz, the url is automatically made to match the first title. In this case, the full url was long enough that the incorrect part was cut off on the game creation page, so I completely forgot to change it. Basically, it was just a
really
dumb mistake on my part that couldn't be changed once the quiz was created.

Words which surprisingly (or conspicuously) didn't make the list: studio, director, kids (go to bed now), agent. And more husbands thanked their wife than the reverse. Guess it's still a man's world in Hollywood, at least in the 'lesser' technical awards that most people don't really care about. @Stanford0008: yes, one 'nitpick'-- think it should be number of times, not amount of times in instructions. Lots of fun even if we cringe at hearing "I want to thank" etc. etc. etc.

Can we maybe implement a rule by which we exclude pronouns and prepositions from games like this? I feel like 90% of the "most common words" quizzes is just rattling off as many prepositions as I can think of, followed by 10 words that actually relate to the category. It would be more fun without them. Just nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives would be awesome.

Just goes to show (as if we didn't know, of course) how trite and predictable are all those fake speeches, that we are able to have a quiz on it, and do well at it.

For those interested, Tim and Graham generally referenced Tim Headington and Graham King, two of the producers on Hugo. (one Tim reference was for Tim Alexander, the Visual Effects Supervisor on Rango) The other two proper names mentioned at least 5 times were Marty and Weinstein - you can probably figure out who they refer to :).
