| Great timing, i thought it was all over when i had 9 seconds left with 3 left to do, but completed with 2 seconds to spare - i felt like a slightly less cliched James Bond. |

| Note to self "Don't attempt Maths Challenge first thing in the morning" - it's just not worth it !! |

| Got 'em! Thanks for the quiz. |

| Nice quiz, 3 seconds left, phew!
The stats quite nicely show where most people got stuck: 40/0.125 and 729^0.5. |

| Subtraction was WAY harder than multiplication, but that's just my opinion. |

| Need to go back to basics, further maths wont help me here. |

| Was proud of myself that I was able to quickly get 40/0.125, but I only had 20 or so seconds after that and lost just after starting the powers section |

| Did much better on subtraction once I stopped doing it the way I was taught (envisioning a vertical equation and trying to "borrow from the 10s column" in my head) and doing it the way my second-grader is being taught ("chunking", so thinking of 62-15 as 62-10, then 52-5). |

| Retired math teacher did this everyday all day long....now I just need to keep my brain working and I have a way to go to get back to former state...Subtraction is better done by reasoning...not the way "your" teacher taught you. I agree. I use grouping. |

| Call me crazy, but I find subtraction easier with the rule of 100 when working with three digits; namely, you subtact 100 and then add (100 - number you're subtracting). For example, 745 - 287 = 745 - 300 + 13. Those are much easier numbers to work with for me. |

| Got only 19 right. I forgot that when dividing by a fraction, you are actually multiplying. I was always lousy at math anyway. |

| I sure found multiplication easier than subtraction, like slew, and like oshoj I find it easier to incorporate addition into fiddly subtraction. |

| oshoj i like that method!!! I only got 7, but no paper/pencil/calculator.. |

| I think I would have done better on this quiz in 3rd grade :-/ |

| Fun quiz! Had three left to go when time ran out... |

| Does it make me a nerd if I took this test |
 | gskyrillion: | Oct 26th, 2011 at 00:39 GMT | | 1 point |
| Finished in 1:02 - These are always fun, especially given how calculator-dependent people seem to be these days.
@oshoj: That really is the key a lot of the time. It's a hell of a lot easier to subtract 100 and add 13 than it is to subtract 87. |

| Why does adding and subtracting take sooo much longer than anything else?? |
 | HandeltheMessiah: | Oct 26th, 2011 at 02:33 GMT | | 1 point |
| I love how a ton of people got out on sqrt 729. |
 | luckdevil: | Oct 26th, 2011 at 03:11 GMT | | 2 points |
| This test taught me that I'm faster at multiplication and division than addition and subtraction, something seems a little off about that... |

| @jayhakers5: no, just means you weren't scared to
find out how brainy you were. |

| Nice quiz. Not to brag, but I'm a good math whiz here. Did pretty well on the quiz. I bet it could stump anyone, including me. |
