	Wikipedia calls the phrase an 'American English idiom'. It also doesn't help that the bottom two before 'nuts' are also American specific rendering it impossible to even make an educated guess.

	I had no idea what were the bottom two before nuts, Colchester,and I live in California! I just had to do some reasonable assumptions and got them all before the timer died! I only know the first and last because its something they would talk about in old movies on TMC!

	I like it when the word ladders are a little difficult. I also could not get the first and last clues until everything else was done, then I slapped my head and couldn't believe how obvious it was. I think this one was well done.

	I had no idea this expression was so rarely known. My family must use it a lot or something, because when I saw "From [First Rung] to [Last Rung]," SOUP to NUTS was my first thought.

	Wow, apparently the saying isn't as well known as I thought. I was going to comment that I enjoyed having to figure out essentially two at once. Maybe it's fallen out of favor? I mean, I'm only 27, but I've heard it many times. It's like "stem to stern". . .or do people not know that one, either?

	@Rasnat - it's not "si" LOL it's "ti"! Si is yes in Spanish not a musical note. Do, re, me, fa, so, la ti, do! Just like @9toes said the song goes "Ti - a drink with jam and bread". That wouldn't make sense if it were si!

	Re: whether "ti" is a note or not: I live in Mexico and teach piano, and one of the first things I learned from my adult students was that here in Mexico, "si" [no accent] is the 7th note on the scale, not "ti". [Now I've learned a lot more musical terminology that I didn't learn in general classes.] It just depends on the country. Spanish lesson for 'lynnline': si (WITH accent) is yes; si (WITHOUT accent) is the conjuction "if", or in a musical sense, the 7th note on the scale.

Sol should be so. It's misleading the way it currently is because sol, ti, and la are all words in Spanish.

	I'm an American and I have lived in Texas, Oregon, Iowa, Florida, and North Carolina. I have been to about 30 states and I can tell that I have NEVER heard this phrase before. For those of you who have heard/use this phrase, where are from? Just curious to know if it's a regional phrase.
