	Kwanzaa is a made up holiday, I lived in Oakland when the guy thought it up. I dont' get the summer part though what has that got to do with that month?

	@hibernia I'm relatively sure the continents of Australia, South America, and most of Africa make up somewhat more tha 0.1% of the earth, and they all celebrate Christmas in summer.

	@TLordaGama: All holidays are made up. Except the solstices and equinoxes, I guess, since they're the date of observable natural phenomena. Anyway, being made up is no reason to hate on Kwanzaa.

	In the southern hemisphere, summer starts in December. December actually does have two seasons here since winter does not begin until at least the 20th. It would have been nice to have Hannukah in there. I have no idea what December has to do with brides. Oh and TLodraGana: All holidays were made up the first time.

	I would guess that 75% of us living in the U.S. haven't heard of Kwanzaa or at least have no idea what it is.

	The Swahili word for 'first' is 'kwanza', so maybe that's where the idea using it around the new year for a celebration came from. The Swahili word only has one 'a' at the end, however.

	I concur on the "derib" issue. I've heard of June deribs and maybe May deribs, but not..... Summer/Winter also flummoxed me until someone kindly pointed out my northern hemisphere bias. Touche. I still think that made it needlessly confusing having two opposites. But it makes some sense in retrospect.

	Hanukkah doesn't always fall in December. Every few years it falls in November and therefore cannot be used for this quiz. I am assuming that's why it's not listed.
