There was no Soviet Union before 1922, so you should change your country column accordingly [also there was no CPSU, see below]. Before 1922, it was the Russian Socialist Federated Soviet Republic (RSFSR), and before 1918, the Russian Republic (proclaimed in Sept. 1917 by the Provisional Government) and until then (at least nominally) the Russian Empire.
According to Wikipedia's article on the CPSU:
* Bolshevik faction emerged within Russian Social Democratic Labour Party as de facto political bloc separate from Mensheviks in 1903. * The RSDLP was formally split in 1912, Henceforth, the Bolshevik faction was known as Russian Social Democratic Labour Party (bolsheviks), RSDLP(b) (Russian: Росси́йская Социал-демократи́ческая Рабо́чая Па́ртия (большевико́в), РСДРП(б)). * In 1918 the Russian element took the name Russian Communist Party (Russian: Росси́йская Коммунисти́ческая Па́ртия). With Ukrainian independence coming about with the secession of Ukrainian People's Republic the Ukrainian element became the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Комуністична Партія (більшовиків) України Komunistychna Partiya (bilshovykiv) Ukrayiny). In 1920 the Communist Party (Bolsheviks) of Ukraine rejoined the RCP. * In 1925 the party was renamed the All-Union Communist Party (Russian: Всесою́зная Коммунисти́ческая Па́ртия), ВКП). * In 1952 the party was renamed the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
¶ You didn't misspell Khrushchev (or Khruschev), but you should allow more transliterations from the Cyrillic alphabet, since during his service as Gen. Secretary, those transliterations beginning with Khr were more common in English-language media than those beginning with Kr. |
